I have been installing laminate flooring since the product first became popular. Bamboo flooring can handle drips just fine it s when drips become puddles and those puddles reach a plank s seam you can have problems. One small detail that most people won t notice is the stain steel toe kick under the base cabinets. Remove the cabinets and screw a plywood filler piece to the subfloor about inch inside the line where it will be under the cabinets.

Bamboo is durable easy to clean water resistant and it complements a wide range of decor styles. The short answer is yes for a nailed down or glued down floor and no for a floating floor. For some reason i wanted a separating line between the floor and the bamboo. For installations that go over existing flooring in kitchens where cabinets are already installed i leave a 1 4 gap for expansion and trim out around the cabinets with matching quarter round from the flooring supplier.

The contractor found the stainless steel and i had a local sheet metal company make the necessary bends to fit around the corners. While it is true that bamboo flooring is harder than most hardwood flooring options it is still relatively soft and can suffer from scratches dents and marks caused by a variety of objects.
